Ultimate Beginner's Beading Kit

Below you'll find a brief description of all the items found in your beading kit and their general purpose.

Please be aware that the kit comes with enough seed beads to complete a few projects, but you will need to buy additional beads. We recommend grabbing another size 11/0 bead mix or one of our size 11/0 bead sets. Choose color palettes that speak to you! All of our beginner-friendly tutorials can be made using any size 11/0 bead mix or size 11/0 bead set we carry. Just make sure you are buying the correct shape of beads (round versus Delica) for the project you'd like to make. Check the tutorial material list for this information. Most projects can be made with either shape.

The jewelry findings (i.e., ear wires, clasps, jump rings) provided in the kit are gold-plated, silver-plated, and stainless steel. They are free from heavy metals, such as lead and cadmium. At some point in your beading journey, you may wish to use sterling silver or gold-filled findings. These are much more expensive. Therefore, we suggest practicing with the findings provided in this kit.

Miyuki Beading Thread
One 50 meter spool of Miyuki nylon beading thread in eggshell. This beading thread is top of line. It comes pre-conditioned and resists fraying.
FireLine Beading Thread
One 50 yard spool of 6LB FireLine beading thread in crystal (clear). This thread resembles fishing line, which doesn't fray. Great for bead weaving!
Pony Beading Needles
One pack of 6 beading needles. Three in size 10 and three in 12. These are the most common beading needle sizes for working with seed beads.
Big Eye Needles
These beading needles have a large, elongated eye that makes it easier to thread. Great for beginners!
Thread Cutter
Great for getting a clean cut on your thread. It's also good to have a designated cutter just for thread so that the blades remain sharp.
Beeswax Thread Conditioner
Conditioning your thread reduces tangles and fraying. It also helps with tension.
Craft Wire
One 15 yards spool 26 gauge spool of craft wire in silver. Craft wire is used to wire-wrap seed beads around hoops or other types of frames.
Zap Jewelry Glue
You may need glue to secure knots or cord ends. This is a gel super glue with an extra thick consistency that won't run or drip. It also dries quick.
Bead Scoops
These are great for easily scooping up beads on your work surface to help keep things neat and tidy. The kit comes with one of each.
Beading Mat
One 8.5 x 7 inch soft beading mat with a non-slip backing. This is used to lay out your beads and easily pick them up with your needle without them rolling around or sticking.
Stretch Cord
One 5 meter spool of 0.7 mm stretch cord used to make stretchy bracelets without a clasp. This diameters works best with size 11/0 seed beads.
Stainless Steel Oval Beads
3 x 3.7 mm. 10 beads per kit. These are great for hiding knots when making stretchy bracelets. We have a tutorial that shows you how.
Ear Wires
5 pairs of each finish (gold-plated, silver-plated, and stainless steel). Ear wires are used to turn your beaded creations into earrings. You simply open the hook with a pair of chain-nose pliers (included in the kit), slip on your creation, and close the hook with pliers to secure it.
Wire Guards/Protectors
20 of each finish (silver-plated and gold-plated). Wire guards can be used to help hang your creations on ear wires to wear as earrings or to finish the ends of bracelets and necklaces.
Lever-Back Hoop Earrings
2 pairs of silver-plated 40mm hoop earrings. These can be used to wire-wrap, brick stitch around, hang beaded fringe from, and more. Lots of possibilities!
Spring Ring Clasps
3 silver-plated. 7mm. Used to finish bracelets and necklaces.
Lobster Clasps
12 x 6.5 mm. Three of each finish (silver-plated, gold-plated, and stainless steel). Used to finish bracelets and necklaces.
Closed Jump Rings
6mm outer diameter. 10 of each finish: gold-plated (19 gauge), silver-plated (19 gauge), and stainless steel (20 gauge). These are best used as a hook for clasps.
Open Jump Ring Sets
Used as connectors to link different components together. Silver and gold-plated. 48 pieces total per color. The 4 sizes include 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, and 8mm.
Tool Set
4-piece tool set with chain nose, round nose, and flat nose pliers as well as wire cutters. This set also comes with a case. These tools are intentionally small and slim for working with delicate seed bead designs.
Boho Rainbow Bead Mix
Size 11/0 rocailles (round). About 6 grams. Our best-selling Miyuki bead mix of all time. Great to get you started on a project or two right away, but please note you will need to buy more beads.
Crazy Quilt Bead Mix
Size 11/0 | 20 grams
Miyuki seed bead mix with too many colors and finishes to count. So much fun to play with! Great to get you started on a project or two right away, but please note you will need to buy more beads.
Tropical Horizon Delica Mix
Size 11/0 | ~5 grams
These beads look great when used as a mix, but you can also use these bright, vibrant colors separately. Great to get you started on a project or two right away, but please note you will need to buy more beads.
